Golden Globes Fundraising Contest - RESULTS!

The results of the Golden Globes are in and we have a winner for our fundraising contest as well!

For those of you who are unaware, our team for the Breast Cancer 3 Day, Relentless Optimism, recently ran a contest to see who could correctly predict the most winners at the 2010 Golden Globes in 25 categories.  Each entry was accompanied by a small donation to Relentless Optimism to help us raise money for breast cancer research and the winner was awarded a small cash prize.  To read all of the details about the Golden Globes Fundraising Contest, please check out this post.

Our Golden Globes contest generated 11 entries and raised $55 towards our team's fundraising goals.  Our most heartfelt thanks goes out to all of our participants, listed here in no particular order:  Karen Sager, Dawn Mazzanti, JT Shoemaker, Sarah Barrows, Kelly Langdon (who entered twice!), Hally Trementozzi, Rex Sager, Roger Sager, and Kristin Moreland.  Oh, and I entered, too.

Most of our participants proved fairly adept at forecasting the future, with more than half of you correctly predicting more than a third of the winners.  We actually had a tie between two people for the most correct guesses, with each of them correctly predicting the winners in 12 out of 25 categories.  Our ultimate winner was chosen by a blind draw between the two and is (drum roll please.....):

Please join me in congratulating my Uncle Rex on his awesome performance in our competition.  I also wanted to recognize Kelly Langford, who finished a strong second, also correctly predicting 12 out of 25 winners.  To see how you did, please see the final list of winners at the HFPA website.

I hope that all of you enjoyed this contest as much as I did.  It was a fun way to raise some money for a great cause and I'm looking forward to doing it again very soon!  Keep an posted on this blog for all the information about our upcoming Super Bowl contest!

Until then, Relentless Optimism, together with the adorable cast of Glee, salute Rex on his big win!

The Golden Globes Prediction Contest!

It's officially one of my favorite times of year: awards season!  If you are anything like me, you love all the glitz and the glam of awards shows and just cannot get enough.  But more likely, you just like movies or television or both.  And if you're here, you probably also want to help our Breast Cancer 3 Day team raise some money.  So what's the best way to combine all of these interests?

The Relentless Optimism Golden Globes Prediction Contest!

For those who don't know, the Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press to the best in film and television.  It's the awards show where all the celebs sit and tables and get drunk, making it a lot of fun to watch.  Even more fun?  Trying to predict the winners in order to win some cash!

So here's how this fundraiser is going to work.  At the bottom of this post, you will find a downloadable ballot with all of the nominees in the various categories.  Download a ballot or three, mark your choices in each category (there are 25) and then email your ballot to me at kscincotta@gmail.com before 8pm on Friday, January 15th.  In order to be considered for the cash prize, each ballot that you submit must be accompanied by a $10 donation to our 3 Day team.  In order to simplify this process, we have set up a handy dandy Paypal button for you to use at the top of the right hand sidebar.  Once you have emailed me your completed ballot and made your donations, you're officially entered!

Then, on Sunday January 17th, tune in to NBC at 8pm to see who all the winners are and to see how you did.  After all of the Globes are awarded, I'll determine who had the most correct predictions and that person will win a cash prize equal to half the amount of money raised in the contest (with the remaining money going to our team).  If someone on our team happens to win, the full amount of money collected will be donated to our team.

You can enter as many times as you want, provided that each ballot is accompanied by a $10 donation to our team.  The more times you enter, the better chance you have to win!  Likewise, the more entries we have, the greater the cash prize, so be sure to spread the word!!  Finally, in the event of a tie, a name will be chosen at random from a hat to determine who gets the cash prize.

And that's it!  Remember - all ballots need to be paid for and emailed to kscincotta@gmail.com before 8pm on Friday January 15th to be included in the contest for the cash prize.  That's just over one week from now, so don't hesitate!  Enter now!!

Thanks for playing along!

(ps - Award shows not your thing?  Then stay tuned - our next contest will be based on the Superbowl!)
