The Baby Q Prediction Contest - RESULTS!

After much delay, the results are finally in!

But first, a recap. Back in November, we had a small contest to jumpstart our team fundraising efforts. As our teammate Melissa Q. was very pregnant at the time, we thought it would be fun to guess some of the details of Baby Q's impending arrival. On November 24th, Melissa and Todd welcomed their beautiful new daughter, Reese Alexandra:

Over the course of our contest, we collected 12 entries and raised $90!  However, after looking at the results, it became clear that we (and our friends & family members) are terrible at predicting the details of incoming babies!  Of the six questions included in the surveys, not one entry had more than one correct prediction!  As a result, we had a five way tie with one correct prediction, including three entries from Jen Rabbitt.  To chose a winner, I wrote down all five people with one correct prediction on slips of paper:

I then placed all five slips into my fuzzy pink hat:

Then I had my husband chose a winner.  In the end, the name that he chose was:

So congratulations Jen!  Because Jen is a Relentless Optimism team member, all of the money that was raised in this contest was donated to our team fundraising efforts.  Jen ended up earning $56.25 towards her final goal, while the rest of us each took home $11.25.

Introducing Reese Alexandra Querry!

We are pleased to introduce everyone to Reese Alexandra Querry, the newest member of the Mag 5 Family! Little Reese entered the world at 7:12pm on Tuesday, November 24th. She weighed in at 6lbs 13ozs and was 21 inches in length. Congratulations to Melissa and Todd on their beautiful new daughter!

Baby Q, Where Are You?

Just a quick note to congratulate Melissa and Todd on reaching Baby Q's official due date! Now, when is this little baby actually going to come out and meet us? I mean, we know how cute Mel is with her Buddha belly, but I'm guessing she's ready for Baby Q to get here even more than we are!

Baby Q Prediction Contest - Update!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick post to remind everyone that we are still accepting entries for the Baby Q Prediction Contest. It is four days before Baby Q is officially due, so get those entries in ASAP!

To enter the contest, please email Kristen at kscincotta@gmail.com your guesses for the date and time of Baby Q's arrival as well her length (in inches), her weight (in lbs) and the first letter of her first name. Or if you prefer, you can also leave your guesses in the comments of either this post or the official Baby Q contest post which can be found at:

A donation of $10 per entry (or $20 for three entries) can be made using the Paypal "Donate" button the right hand side of the page. All entries that are received and paid for before Baby Q arrives will be eligible to win!

So far, we have 12 completed entries, for a minimum donation to the Relentless Optimism walkers of $45. Only one person has guessed that Baby Q will be arriving on schedule, with most people predicting a late arrival (sorry Mel!). Entries are split 50/50 over whether she will come in the morning or in the evening. There are two guesses that Baby Q's name will start with "A" and two guesses that her name will start with "K" (maybe named Kristen, perhaps??). Finally there is one guess for "Q" and one for "@" from the Mom to be herself, although we sincerely hope that one isn't right!

The Baby Q Prediction Contest!

Announcing our first team fundraising contest: The Baby Q Prediction Contest!

Our friend and teammate Melissa Querry and her husband Todd are expecting their first child in late November. In the grand tradition of baby pools every where, we are running a contest for our family and close friends to predict the details of Baby Q's arrival. The official due date for the little lady is November 19th, but as we all know, babies keep to their own schedules! So in the name of fun and fundraising, let the guessing begin!

To enter the contest, please send your best predictions to the following questions to kscincotta@gmail.com before Baby Q comes:

1. Date of birth
2. Hour of birth
3. Minute of birth
4. Height (in inches)
5. Weight (in pounds)
6. First letter of the first name

The cost per entry is a $10 donation or $20 for three entries. You may enter as many times as you want, as long as you pay for them. Points will be awarded for the most correct answers and the winner will receive a cash prize equal to the half the amount of money collected. The remaining money will be donated to our team fundraising efforts. If a member of our 3-Day team wins, all of the money collected will be donated to the team.

This contest is to benefit our as yet unnamed team for the 2010 Breast Cancer 3 Day in Boston. Each individual is required to raise at least $2300 to participate, so we've got a long way to go!
